This September, the 2008-09 Cowlitz Americorps Network team participated in their first service project with the United Way's Day of Caring. They spent the entire day at Longview School District's outdoor school, Wake Robin. Members busied themselves cleaning and painting the school house as well as clearing and repairing trails. The Wake Robin site was one of 30 projects across the county that benefited from United Way volunteers' efforts.

Upcoming Service Projects

Members have formed groups to begin planning the next three service projects. Each project has a different goal, but all will provide a service to the public and promote community involvement.

Martin Luther King Day - January 19

The Americorps team will honor the life of Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement through activities and services that promote diversity, mentorship, and overcoming poverty.

Americorps Week - May 9 through 14

Members will take an entire week to "Get Things Done" in their community. This is a chance for the members to combine their efforts on a larger scale project to benefit the community.
